St. Patrick’s Day Weekend in Myrtle Beach? Here’s How

It’s not too early to start planning on meeting up with friends in Myrtle Beach for St. Patrick’s Day.

It’s a couple of months away and getting there puts us even closer to summer fun on the Grand Strand. Spring is a fine season to visit the beach, and when you have fun events like St. Patrick’s Day, it makes it even better. So, gather the crew and get ready to play.

Here’s a guide to this springtime holiday at the beach. But first …

Interesting Facts About St. Patrick’s Day

  • St. Patrick, Ireland’s patron saint, was born in Great Britain, historians believe.  They postulate Irish raiders kidnapped him and sold him to a priest in Northern Ireland when he was 16.
  • St. Patrick’s Day is a feast day for the saint and in the U.S., the menu includes corned beef and cabbage.
  • As a shepherd, St. Patrick heard voices in the field. These voices spurred him to return to Ireland to save his people.

Planning St. Patrick’s Day Weekend in Myrtle Beach

32nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival | March 12, 2022

After a 9 a.m. parade starts, stick around from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the festival. This FREE event is the biggest one in town, with more than 100 parade entries. Stay updated through live announcing stations along the route, and if you can’t make it in person, tune in to WPDE TV 15.

Pro tip: Set up your spot to see the parade by 8:30 a.m. for best results. Bring beach chairs, blankets, and golf carts.

What About the Festival?

See Irish dancers, pipe bands, and more on three stages. Peruse wares from more than 150 craft vendors. Also, visit food vendors and businesses on Main Street for treats. There will be plenty of street entertainers, dressed in green, of course. And games and rides for the little ones.
