How to Have Sheer Fun This Spring in Myrtle Beach

Ready to embark on a beach adventure this spring? It’s great to go on a whim, and helpful to plan ahead. A little of both is perfect!

We’ll go over a few things to know before you go.

Springtime on the Grand Strand is a perfect time to visit. The weather’s warming, the crowds aren’t too big, and there’s plenty to do. You could also opt for the lay-low plan for rest and relaxation.

6 Random Tips for a Great Spring Beach Trip

1. Wrap Up Your Phone

Any sandwich baggie will do. You’ll still be able to use the touchscreen, but the plastic will guard your phone against sand and water. Incidental water, not submersion. For that, you’d need something like this.

PRO TIP: Don’t leave your phone in full sun exposure, even on cool days. A device can overheat in these conditions.

2. Seek Shade

It’s not the heat of summer, but springtime in Myrtle Beach can get steamy, too. A pop-up tent works best for extended periods on the beach. One with a mesh window screen is good for ventilation.

PRO TIP: Before Memorial Day, you can use a pop-up tent on the beach. After Memorial Day, until Labor Day, they’re prohibited.

3. Check the Weather

Springtime temps are so pleasant — highs from the low 60s to mid-70s, lows from the upper 40s to low 60s. If it isn’t going to rain on your trip, save that space in your luggage for other clothing. Pack jeans and a sweatshirt for those cooler days and nights.

PRO TIP: Pack lightweight shirts and towels. Skip bulky sweaters and towels in favor of quarter-zip jackets and micro-fiber towels.

4. Skip the Sunburn

They’re a quick way to ruin a trip — and put your skin through undue stress and susceptibility to skin cancer. Pick one of at least 15 SPF that blocks UVA and UVB rays. Apply often, especially if you’re sweating or swimming.

Pro tip: Don’t forget lip balm with sunscreen and clothing such as hats and sunglasses. A long-sleeved cover-up can also help.

5. Bring Snacks

They make sense on the way here, by car or plane, and while you’re here, living it up. Playing on the beach is hard work, and a goodie bag of snacks will come in handy between meals. Fruit and bulk-sized snacks are perfect.

Pro tip: Consider these noshing gems:

  • Chips
  • Granola bars
  • Jerky
  • Fresh fruit
  • Fruit bars
  • Nut mix

6. Make Your Keys Float

How? Add a cork or other flotation device in case a wave (or misstep at the lazy river) separates you from your keys. They won’t do you much good at the bottom of the ocean.

Pro tip: While we’re on valuables … bring books and magazines to the beach instead of your e-reader. It’s not worth the potential for damage or theft.

Take these tips into consideration for your spring beach getaway. They’re small but easy ways to ensure a smoother trip!
